Circular Saw Blade Process

Our comprehensive sharpening process for circular saw blades includes ultrasonic cleaning, precision inspection, expert retipping, and final coating protection.

Ultrasonic washing system

Ultrasonic Washing

Every blade undergoes ultrasonic cleaning using high-frequency sound waves (28-40 kHz) that create microscopic cavitation bubbles. These bubbles implode upon contact with the blade surface, blasting away resin, pitch, grease, and machining residue from gullets, tooth faces, and hidden crevices that manual cleaning cannot reach.

Blade inspection and hammering

Inspection & Hammering

Each circular saw blade and split receives thorough inspection for damage, wear patterns, and tooth condition. We then perform expert hammering to restore flatness, correct tension, and eliminate vibration. This critical step ensures the blade runs true and cuts cleanly, extending blade life and improving cut quality.

Carbide tip retipping and welding

Expert Re-tipping & Welding

When tooth pockets are damaged or carbide tips are worn beyond service limits, we perform expert re-tipping using precision soldering equipment. Our technicians remove damaged tips and solder new carbide tips into the tooth pockets with exact positioning and proper braze material, ensuring optimal cutting performance and tip retention. When the tooth pocket is damaged, we weld the affected area and regrind the pocket to restore its original depth and shape.

Side grinding, topping, and facing

Precision Grinding

For blades that have been re-tipped, we perform expert side grinding to establish proper side clearance angles. This prevents the tooth from rubbing against the cut wall and reduces heat buildup. We then complete topping (shaping the tooth tip geometry) and facing (forming the front cutting face) to achieve the correct rake angle and cutting aggressiveness.

Final Sharpening

Blades are mounted on our precision sharpening equipment and set to the exact angle required for that specific blade type and application. Our sharpeners maintain consistent tooth height, proper clearance angles, and sharp cutting edges across every tooth, ensuring uniform performance and extended blade life.

Red plastic coating protection

Protective Coating

After sharpening, each blade is dipped in a red plastic/wax coating that protects the carbide teeth from chipping or breakage during shipping and handling. This protective layer absorbs impacts and prevents tooth damage, ensuring your blades arrive in perfect condition ready for immediate use.

Packaging & Shipping

Finished blades are carefully packed to protect them during transit. Each blade is secured to prevent movement and damage. We then ship the blades back to you via your preferred method—route delivery or UPS—ready to perform at peak efficiency.

Chipper/Planer/Jointer Knife Process

Babbitt Removal and Inspection

For knives equipped with babbitt bearings—a soft metal alloy, like lead, that provides precise shaft alignment—we carefully remove the existing babbitt material and inspect the knife for any damage or wear.

Knives are mounted on our precision sharpening equipment and set to the exact angle required for that specific knife type and machine application. Our sharpeners maintain consistent bevel angles, proper clearance, and razor-sharp cutting edges across the entire knife length, ensuring clean, efficient cutting and extended tool life.

Babbitt bearing reinstatement

Babbitt Reinstatement

After sharpening, we replace the babbitt specific to your machine and company specifications. The babbitt material is heated to the proper pouring temperature and carefully poured into the knife holder using precision jigs to ensure correct positioning and dimensions. This custom fit ensures optimal shaft alignment.
